Computer Lab

A large PC suite with specialist software supports creative work in animation, design and 3D modelling, providing high-performance computing across disciplines.

The School of Creative Arts offers extensive computer resources, with one of the largest dedicated PC labs located in the Lindop Building. This 75-seat suite is equipped with high-spec PCs, providing the processing power required for demanding creative applications. The lab is particularly important for animation and design subjects but is also used across a wide range of disciplines.

Software provision is comprehensive and includes Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, as well as Autodesk 3Ds Max, Blender, Fusion 360, Solidworks, Keyshot and Rhino. This breadth ensures that students have access to the tools required for 2D design, 3D modelling, rendering and digital prototyping.

The computer lab is part of a wider network of over 1,200 computers across the University, with additional Mac and PC suites tailored to specialist subjects. All Creative Arts students benefit from free access to Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office 365, as well as generous online storage for project work. This combination of high-performance hardware and industry-standard software creates a professional environment where students can confidently develop their skills and complete complex creative projects.
