Children’s Book Space
Tucked inside the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) at the de Havilland Campus, the Children’s Book Space gives trainee teachers a place to slow down and explore the power of stories. It’s where lessons are shaped around real books and ideas for creative, child-friendly reading spaces take form.
Education students use the Children’s Book Space to develop classroom ideas. The shelves are lined with picture books, poetry and early readers, the same books that will one day be used to build lessons and create inviting reading corners.
Classes sometimes take place here, while at other times students drop in to plan activities, test out storytelling approaches or rehearse reading aloud. Between sessions, the space becomes a quiet spot for group work or independent study.
