You’ll need to do so first. You can register with UCAS and complete an application as normal. You’ll need to include a personal statement and a reference, and there is a small fee to pay. We recommend you use a personal email address on your UCAS application, rather than a school/college email.

Your UCAS Hub will show if you’re in Clearing or if you’re holding an offer. If you are holding an offer elsewhere, you can decline your firm place on your UCAS Hub, which will make you eligible to then select your Clearing choice.

If you’ve been offered a place on a different course to what you originally applied for, this is likely to be because you didn’t quite meet our entry requirements and our Admissions Team have offered you an alternative.

Unfortunately not. You will need to decline your firm choice place on your UCAS Hub and go through Clearing to re-apply to your Insurance choice. If you choose to do this, please make sure that spaces are still available.

Your Clearing offer is valid for 48 hours (or 24 hours for Optometry and Physiotherapy courses). You must add your Clearing choice within this timeframe.

It’s then over to our Admissions team to verify and confirm your place. This part may take a little longer but is not part of the 48 hours.

Once you’ve done your thing on UCAS, our Admissions team will need to verify your qualifications against your application and our entry requirements. They will email you if anything is missing, so keep an eye out. If everything is ok, they’ll send you your formal offer, along with your student ID number, and you’re on your way to Herts!

If your UCAS application Hub doesn’t say you are in Clearing, it might be that you are waiting for a place elsewhere to be confirmed. Get in touch with that institution and ask them to release you into Clearing.

If you have already submitted a clearing choice but have changed your mind and would like to swap to another, you will need to wait until your place in confirmed, then decline this place, to be released back into Clearing where you can add a different choice.

Your application status will update once our Admissions team have reviewed and verified your application and qualifications. It’s a very busy time, so please hold on for now. Keep an eye on your emails, as the Admissions team may ask for proof of qualifications, if they don’t receive them automatically from UCAS.

We recommend adding your clearing choice on UCAS as soon as possible as spaces get filled very quickly. We may be able to extend your deadline but this depends on if there are still spaces available on the course. Please call the Clearing hotline and we can take a look at your application and advise further.
