Graduate Outcomes survey

Your voice counts – help raise the profile of your qualification

About 15 months after you complete your studies, you will receive an email invitation asking you to take part in the Graduate Outcomes survey, run by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA).

The survey is a quick check-in to understand what you’ve been up to since finishing your course. Your voice shapes the national picture of graduate life and helps future students see what’s possible. It also adds value to your qualification – universities are partly ranked based on Graduate Outcomes data, so taking part helps you and your peers stand out.

FAQs

Make sure the University has your current email address and mobile number to ensure you receive your survey invite. If your details have changed since graduation, email us with your updates.

Expect to hear from the Graduate Outcomes team around 15 months after you’ve completed your course. You’ll be notified via:

  • email from universityofhertfordshire@graduateoutcomes.ac.uk;
  • SMS from GradOutcomes;
  • phone call reminder from IFF Research, working on behalf of HESA.

The survey takes around ten minutes and asks about your current activity, such as work, study, training, self-employment or exploring other options. If you’re employed in the UK, have your employer’s address and postcode to hand.

Complete the survey based on your situation that day. If you hold multiple roles, focus on the one most relevant to your degree or future plans.

We want to hear about every journey our graduates take. The survey captures a wide range of positive outcomes, including:

  • paid employment;
  • freelancing or self-employment;
  • running your own business;
  • volunteering or unpaid work;
  • full-time study or training;
  • developing a portfolio;
  • travelling or taking time out;
  • caring responsibilities;
  • retirement.

Visit the official Graduate Outcomes website for a full breakdown of what to expect, or check out this video about the survey.

Read Nazira’s blog on LinkedIn explaining why she completed the survey and how her story adds to the bigger picture.
