Travelling the world

Wojciech is passionate about sea travel, and after completing his BA (Hons) International Tourism Management degree at Herts he has since gone on to visit 70 countries whilst working in the tourism industry.

Wojciech’s exciting career began during his placement year at Herts. He worked for TUI’s Marella Cruises, where he travelled across Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, Asia, and the Caribbean. He believes this experience gave him a solid foundation for the future, ‘The University has strong industry links, which allows young professionals to take on new challenges. Placement also gives you the opportunity to explore which sector you would like to work in.’

After graduating, Wojciech secured a full-time role with Marella Cruises and through commitment and hard work, he was soon promoted to Assistant Destination Services Manager and then Destination Services Manager. Wojciech says, ‘Becoming a Destination Services Manager allowed me to lead and direct a team who provided a high level of customer service and helped guests make lifelong memories.’

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Wojciech joined V.Ships Leisure as a Senior Recruitment Officer before returning to the UK, where he now works as an Onboarding Coordinator for Hurtigruten Expeditions.

Opportunities to grow

Wojciech credits Herts with where he is today. ‘Studying at Herts was one of the best experiences of my life. I met inspiring friends and learned from passionate lecturers. The hospitality industry is all about people, and there were lots of opportunities to get to know others during the course and work as a team on group exercises.

‘It’s not easy to leave the comfort of home and live on campus. However, the experience helps you grow, mature, and become independent.’
