Shahrzad Atai

Meet Shahrzad Atai, Partner – Head of International Clients at Child & Child, who has won various international awards. She has had an impressive career as a highly regarded corporate and commercial lawyer.

University experience and application

Shahrzad is internationally recognized for her talent and expertise in cross-border law and international finance.

She credits her success to her studies at the University of Hertfordshire and the foundation of knowledge and support we provided her. She says, ‘Doing an LLB(Hons) in Law gave me the platform to get into the legal industry and achieve my goals.’ She found it inspiring to be taught by academics who were former lawyers. This enabled her to experience different areas of law and identify her strengths, weaknesses and her passion

Shahrzad has acted as an external advisor to the UK Government’s legal department. Her expertise in financial sanctions, particularly concerning Iran, banking finance, cross border transactions and commercial/ business law is in high demand.

Her current focus is on corporate commercial law, financial sanctions, particularly in relation to Iran, banking finance, cross border transactions and commercial/ business law. She also has experience of structuring and property and finance and advises many international clients including family offices, companies, high net worth individuals and governments.

Future aspirations

Shahzad has had a highly successful career in law and continues to win awards for her contribution and dedication to the profession. For the time being she is keeping her future goals secret so she can surprise us all with her next move. However, she does plan on continuing to support the University and our current students, by taking part in careers talks and providing work experience opportunities.
