Amgen Teacher Fellowship

Information from EDC about an opportunity for ABE teachers

The annual ABE Master Teacher Fellowship is a stipended 6-month professional experience from January through June 2021 in which up to 12 exceptional ABE teachers from the international ABE community will be recognized and provided with opportunities to develop their own expertise and contribute to the ABE community via LabXchange and other resources. With support from the EDC program office and a mentor, fellows will explore a topic of personal interest in the biosciences and develop corresponding classroom resources, and will become advisors contributing to the development and depth of the ABE program.

  • Fellows will be asked to commit 6-10 hours of time per month towards Fellowship activities, research, and meetings.
  • Fellows will be compensated for their time with a $2000 stipend, paid out over three time points during the Fellowship.
  • With support from the Program Office and a mentor from Amgen or another science-focused organization, fellows will explore a topic of personal interest in the biosciences and develop corresponding classroom resources, and will become advisors contributing to the development and depth of the ABE program. You will be able to access and upload all required application materials to this site. In selection of Fellows, note that we will prioritize supporting teachers who identify as black, indigenous, or of color, as well as teachers who expand opportunities for Black and indigenous students, in an effort to ameliorate the devastating effects of racism on ABE communities. Teacher applications are due by close of business on Friday, 18 December 2020.
