The University of Hertfordshire has risen 12 places in the Complete University Guide 2027 (CUG) published yesterday.

One of the UK’s most respected league tables, Herts is now ranked at 70 out of 130 universities and sixth in the East of England. It also placed Herts in the UK’s top third of institutions for education, electrical and electronic engineering, medical technology and bioengineering, nursing and midwifery, paramedic science and physiotherapy.

Its Food Science course also climbed five places to rank fifth in the UK, with the Complete University Guide highlighting that: “[The University of] Hertfordshire already leads Food Science for graduate prospects – at 100% – but this year it improves on its continuation and student satisfaction scores.”

Professor Anthony Woodman, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hertfordshire, said:

“Our continued success in the league tables is a strong endorsement of the quality and impact of our courses. It reflects the dedication and expertise of our staff, and our unwavering focus on delivering excellent outcomes for our students - particularly in developing the skills and experience they need to succeed in their careers."

Last year the University also rose 12 places in both the  2026 Times Good University Guide and 2026 Guardian University Guide - achieving a top 50 place in the latter – and climbed eight places in the 2026 Daily Mail University Guide.

The annually published Complete University Guide assesses institutions on key performance indicators including student satisfaction, research quality, graduate prospects and entry standards to help students choose the right university for them. Cambridge University finished top of this year’s league tables.
