Herts and Aviation Generation partner to inspire the next generation of aviation professionals

Future designers, pilots, engineers and other aviation professionals could benefit from new opportunities after the University of Hertfordshire and Aviation Generation launched a partnership to help turn aviation ambitions into careers.

The new collaboration will explore routes into higher education and employment, helping young people in particular, gain the skills, experience and industry connections needed to succeed in the aviation sector.

A not-for-profit organisation, Aviation Generation works with schools, colleges, universities and employers to provide industry-focused aviation education and support learners on their journey into aviation careers.

Bringing together the University's strengths in education, research and employer engagement with Aviation Generation's industry-informed learning pathways, the partnership will focus on creating clearer routes into aviation and developing initiatives that connect learners with real-world industry opportunities.

Dr Charmagne Barnes, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Education and Student Experience at the University of Hertfordshire, said:

"The aviation industry relies on talented, adaptable people, and universities have a vital role to play in helping develop that future workforce.

"This partnership will create new opportunities for learners to engage with industry, develop career-relevant skills and explore pathways into higher education and aviation careers. By working together, we can help ensure the next generation is prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly evolving sector."

Areas of collaboration will include progression pathways from Aviation Generation partner colleges into higher education, employer-led challenges, joint research and innovation projects, and opportunities for learners to engage directly with aviation professionals.

The University of Hertfordshire will also become part of Aviation Generation's wider network, giving learners access to higher education opportunities aligned with their interests, ambitions and the needs of industry.

Dr Noel Dennis, a Member of Aviation Generation’s Advisory Board, said:

The University of Hertfordshire's strong heritage and track record in aviation, higher education, innovation and employer engagement makes it an important partner as we continue to build opportunities for young people pursuing careers in aviation.

"Together, we want to create meaningful experiences that help learners build confidence, industry awareness and a clearer understanding of the routes available to them as they progress towards professional careers."

The two organisations will initially focus on strengthening progression routes into relevant University programmes, building links with partner colleges and developing industry-led initiatives that bring real-world aviation challenges into the learning experience.
