Applications open for Medicine at the University of Hertfordshire
There are up to 70 places available on the new Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree in September 2026. Applications are being accepted from international students only for the first cohort, with places expected to be available for home students from 2027.
Hertfordshire Medical School launched to the public back in December last year, and following a landmark development with the General Medical Council (GMC) earlier this month, preparation for September 2026 is well underway.
Students studying Medicine at Herts will learn alongside peers from the University’s acclaimed healthcare programmes, benefiting from a dynamic, inter-professional learning environment that mirrors the collaborative nature of modern healthcare.
The recent Daily Mail Good University Guide ranks Herts in the UK’s top 10 for health science, nutrition and dietetics, physiotherapy and nursing and midwifery. It is ranked first in the UK for counselling, psychotherapy and occupational therapy.
Professor Mairi Watson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hertfordshire, said:
“I’m thrilled that we can now welcome applications to our first cohort of student doctors in 2026.
"Our long-standing excellence in health education, training, and research is allied to the incredible support we’ve received from our regional NHS partners, all united in our mission to improve healthcare outcomes locally and beyond.
“We are committed to shaping the future of healthcare and addressing critical workforce shortages – both in the UK and globally.”
