The University of Hertfordshire and global education provider Navitas have announced a long-term partnership renewal that will further broaden international education on campus and expand learning opportunities for international students.

The partnership between the University and Navitas, who collaboratively deliver the Navitas Hertfordshire International College (HIC), expands and strengthens a relationship already lasting more than two decades.

Established in 2000, the two institutions have always worked closely together to - through the College - accelerate the University’s internationalisation goals by growing and diversifying its international student population; improving international students’ academic outcomes; broadening the University’s international programs and services; and enhancing its global reach and reputation.

During that period the College has supported some 9,000 international learners, with latest tracer data showing that 65% of the Colleges’ students graduated with a 1st or 2:1 in 2022.

Speaking at the partnership contract signing Paul Lovegrove, Chief Executive Officer, Navitas University Partnerships Europe & Chief Operating Officer Navitas Global said:

“The University of Hertfordshire and Navitas have a unique partnership spanning more than two decades and I am delighted that Navitas will continue to work alongside the University as its trusted partner. Hertfordshire was our very first University partner in the UK when we established the College in 2000, and we’ve been through some tough challenges together.  not least the recent pandemic.

“Throughout all we’ve worked together to ensure that our students are supported, to realise their academic ambitions, and to enable the University to reach more international students and showcase all that the University has to offer.”

Quintin McKellar, University of Hertfordshire Vice Chancellor commented:

“We have a long, trusted and successful relationship with Navitas and are delighted to be continuing to work with them. Our international students play an incredibly important role in our University; enrichening and diversifying our student population and contributing enormously to the life and economy of the university, the region and the UK. They also play a vital role in filling crucial UK skills gaps - particularly in STEM and healthcare sectors – develop innovative new research and provide important diversity to key industry sectors.

“This long-term partnership will continue to support these outcomes and future opportunities and we are excited to continue to work together with the Navitas team to welcome many new learners from across the globe.”

Jo Stuart, Executive Director for Business, International, Marketing and Recruitment at the University of Hertfordshire added:

“In my role as Chair of the Joint Strategic Programme Management Board for the Hertfordshire International College, I’ve been able to directly work with the Navitas team to support and oversee the continued growth and success of our international community at the University of Hertfordshire, who now come to us from over 140 countries.

“Our international community are such a welcome and positive addition to our campuses. They bring so many cultural, social and economic benefits, help our UK students develop a more global outlook and eventually go off to become one of many Herts alumni who achieve great outcomes across the world. It’s why I am so delighted that we are continuing this successful, long-standing relationship with Navitas, and look forward to working with the HIC leadership team to support more students to study with us so they can go on to achieve their goals.”

Sarah Liu, Hertfordshire International College Director/ Principal welcomed the news:

“I am proud of the hard work and commitment by my College team and the wider Navitas community.  Hertfordshire International College is a special place for those that choose to study with us, and this is reflected in the outstanding results that our students achieve.  We offer our learners world-class education coupled with an inclusive, welcoming student experience. A true community, more than 40% of our teaching team have been with the College for more than a decade, and I know they will also be delighted with this great news.”
