Empowering the entrepreneurs of tomorrow

Herts helps students and recent graduates turn bright ideas into thriving businesses. Based in our dynamic Enterprise Hub on the de Havilland campus, the Enterprise programme offers the space, guidance and resources needed to explore, develop and bring entrepreneurial ambitions to life alongside academic study. Through mentoring, workshops, funding opportunities and start‑up competitions, students gain the practical skills and confidence required to build successful ventures and drive innovation that benefits both the local economy and wider communities.

The Enterprise Fund strengthens this support by providing financial and practical assistance, including access to specialist facilities, start‑up programmes and experienced mentors. Initiatives such as the annual Flare competition give students and alumni hands‑on experience pitching ideas, as well as targeted training and funding to accelerate their ventures. Last year alone, £47,500 in seed funding helped launch and grow new businesses.

Herts entrepreneurs are already creating real‑world impact - from transforming coffee waste into sustainable fertiliser to developing AI‑powered healthcare tools and launching eco‑friendly fashion brands. These achievements show how effective enterprise support can turn early‑stage ideas into meaningful innovation.

By supporting enterprise at Herts, you help unlock the potential of ambitious students and graduates, widening access to vital skills, strengthening entrepreneurial programmes and enabling new ventures to grow. Your investment empowers individuals to shape future industries, drive economic growth and create lasting positive impact across our communities and beyond.
