In addition to the Widening Participation Schools talks and workshops at your school, we hold a number of events at the University each year.
We will be sending out more details of these opportunities closer to the time but please look out for the following events:
Updates school sixth form staff on the changes to the student finance system and advises on effective strategies for writing UCAS form references, guiding students through their personal statements and how to complete apprenticeship applications.
Intensive tuition for Year 11 students who are on the C/D borderline in either Maths or English GCSE. Students spend three days on to the University campus receiving subject specific coaching.
Sixth formers from their schools are also with us during Autumn School to be trained as mentors who will continue to support the Year 11s as they approach their GCSEs. Many of these students will have attended Summer Schools previously so this will be an opportunity to develop their existing knowledge of university.
Intensive tuition for Year 12 students who are resitting either Maths or English GCSE. Students spend three days on to the University campus receiving subject specific coaching. Many of these students will have attended Summer Schools previously so this will be an opportunity to develop their existing knowledge of university.
Opportunity for young people to get a taste of what university is really like and challenge their misconceptions. School students will get the chance to spend a night in the University Halls of Residence and attend lectures to demonstrate the wide range of subjects that university has to offer.
This year, the University will be offering Summer Schools to Years 10 and 7 as well as a group of young people who have grown up in the care system.
Please contact Naomi Austin at email@example.com if you are aware of students at your school who are within the care system.
We offer advice and support to schools and colleges on higher education and access to the University of Hertfordshire.
