Recognising excellence in teaching

The University is very proud of its teaching staff and promotes the professional recognition of their teaching expertise through nationally recognised fellowships awarded by the Higher Education Academy (HEA).

The University has over 800 members of staff who are Fellows of the HEA and over 450 members of staff who are Associate Fellows of the HEA.

We have over 80 Senior Fellows of the HEA, who have been recognised for their leadership/support of other staff in relation to learning and teaching.

The highest level of recognition through the HEA is Principal Fellow of the HEA.

National Teaching Fellowship Scheme

The University currently has eleven members of staff with prestigious National Teaching Fellowships. The national competition, organised by the Higher Education Academy, recognises, rewards and celebrates individuals who make an outstanding impact on the student learning experience.
