Luke McWilliams

BA (Hons) Business with Mandarin

Study.Luke completed a successful three month placement as Sales Manager at Maysun International Ltd. This involved working with international partners in Europe and China, an experience he applied positively to his course. He entered the University's flare competition making it to round two with an excellent business plan and was nominated for the University’s Entrepreneur Award. His work experience and his course have significantly improved his business knowledge and Mandarin proficiency and he is keen to progress an international business career.

James Parnell

BSc (Hons) Information Technology Management for Business

Life.During his final year James helped coach the Level 5 IT Management for Business (ITMB) team in their preparations for this year's national ITMB competition. As a result, they achieved a fantastic second place against very strong competition from Loughborough, Exeter, Queen Mary and others. James has demonstrated exceptional teamwork, leadership and mentoring skills, all of which were developed during his time at HBS and on his placement year with GlaxoSmithKline. This summer, James graduated with a First.

Leslie Lumumba

BA (Hons) Accounting & Finance

Success.Leslie was hesitant to go on a placement, but with encouragement from his tutors he did and now regards it as one of the best years of his life.  In addition to the work experience and skills gained, his placement at Trinity Estates, a regular recruiter from the University of Hertfordshire, got him involved with their selected charity Barnardo’s. He is now an active mentor to a child with disabilities and has become passionate about the benefits of mentorship. The child’s carers and social services have confirmed that Leslie’s mentor role has helped significantly. Leslie now has a graduate role with Citibank.

Aimee McMullan

BA (Hons) Marketing with Event Management

StartAimee is part of a very small group of students who succeeded in the challenge of pursuing the CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing while completing her undergraduate degree. This is a significant achievement that required additional study and success in multiple examinations across all levels of her undergraduate degree. Aimee recognised the attraction of entering her career with these valuable qualifications and her hard work is already paying off.

Josh Abbott

BA (Hons) International Business with a year abroad

Josh AbbottJosh is a final year student on BA International Business. In his second year he studied abroad at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and in his third year at Complutense University in Madrid, as well as taking a work placement with EMEA Solutions Group in Barcelona. During his year in Spain, Josh was co-founder with Said Kenj of their own business, called Unifie, which connects graduates to high growth start-ups across Europe. For Josh, this has opened doors with major global companies, and their entrepreneurial venture looks to reap its rewards. He has also appeared twice on Spanish television.

Colin Mattis

Master of Business Administration

ColinColin showed great intellectual curiosity in both his study and his translation of that study into practice. His persistent desire to understand and learn led him to be hugely engaged in his studies and also to drive classroom learning for his peers. He did this while maintaining a demanding legal career. As a result of his MBA experience, he has transformed his career path, leaving a senior role at a respected London Law firm to set up his own commercial venture providing services within the legal field.

Brad Barritt

MSc Business and Management Studies

BradBrad studied at HBS part-time for his masters degree which he completed this year, receiving a commendation. Alongside his studies, Brad works as a professional rugby player with Saracens RFC and has proudly represented England on numerous occasions. During his final year of study at HBS, as captain, Brad led Sarries to the Premiership and European Champions Cup titles.

Angela Dines

BA (Hons) Accounting & Finance

AngelaAngela’s placement year at Computacenter in 2014/15 led to a part-time role during her final year. Combining study with work experience contributed to her securing a first class degree and also gaining a place on the Finance Graduate Scheme at American Express. Further, she has opened the door at Computacenter for other HBS students, organising visits for students and establishing a solid partnership. The company is now taking on more HBS students and graduates than ever before.
