Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) Secondary
The PGCE Secondary course is a one year, full time Initial Teacher Education (ITE) qualification leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
The PGCE Secondary Programme has been designed to enable trainees to demonstrate evidence of having met the Teachers’ Standards that lead to QTS. All trainees undertaking the PGCE route into teaching will work towards securing 60 master’s level credits. This is an integral part of the programme.
We believe that innovative and effective teaching and learning is made possible through a teacher’s full engagement with research informed practice.
The PGCE is offered in the following subjects:
- Art and Design
- Modern Foreign Languages - Applicants could apply to train to teach any of the following languages:
- French with German
- French with Spanish
- German with French
- Business Studies - The PGCE in Secondary Business Education is currently closed for applications to the 2018/19 academic year. The next intake will be for the 2019/20 academic year.
