University of Hertfordshire Applicant Day travel reimbursement

The Applicant Day travel reimbursement is designed to help support those who want to attend the Applicant Day on Saturday 15 March 2025.

The reimbursement is available to all UK applicants, covering mileage only for a return journey by car to attend the Applicant Day, up to the value of £100.

Free bus travel

As well as the travel bursary, we are also offering free travel across the UNO bus network for travel to and from the Applicant Day. Just book your place and you’ll receive your travel voucher. Please visit the UNO website to plan your journey.

University of Hertfordshire Applicant Day Travel Reimbursement Scheme

As an applicant or offer holder attending the University of Hertfordshire Applicant Day, you may be eligible to receive a travel reimbursement for mileage travelled by car from your home to the University of Hertfordshire’s College Lane campus, subject to the terms and conditions set out below.

Terms and Conditions

  1. Eligibility

    The University of Hertfordshire Applicant Day Travel Reimbursement Scheme is only open to applicants that are resident in the United Kingdom and will cover the mileage cost to travel by car from your home address to the University of Hertfordshire’s College Lane campus up to the value of £100.

    We will use the AA Route Planner to check the number of miles (as the crow flies) between your registered address on your UCAS application and the University of Hertfordshire’s College Lane campus.

    To be eligible for a travel reimbursement, you'll need to meet all of the following criteria:

    • be resident in the United Kingdom;
    • be an undergraduate applicant to the University of Hertfordshire;
    • be an attendee of the University of Hertfordshire Applicant Day; and
    • we must receive your application for reimbursement by Saturday 5 April 2025.

    If successful in your application, you will be expected to pay for the full cost of your travel, and then the University of Hertfordshire will reimburse you for your eligible costs.

  2. What method of travel is not accepted?

    The University of Hertfordshire Applicant Day Travel Reimbursement Scheme will only cover travel by car (mileage only). Any other form of travel is not covered.

    Alternatively, we do provide a free return bus ticket on the UNO bus network for you and your guests attending the University of Hertfordshire Applicant Day. Please contact us for more information.

  1. How to apply?

    Anyone wishing to apply will receive an email with a link to a form.

    Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by email within two (2) weeks of the form closing.

  1. How much could I get?

    We will reimburse your total eligible mileage at a rate of 0.20p per mile, up to a maximum amount of £100.

  1. How and when will I be paid?

    Once your application has been processed, you will receive a direct payment into the bank account provided in your application. This process can take up to thirty (30) days as standard upon closure of the form, but please note that reimbursements may take longer during university closures such as public holidays. If you have not received your payment within such a period, please get in touch with us at opendays@herts.ac.uk.

  2. How do we store your data?

    The information provided on the application form will be held on a secure database and made available only to University of Hertfordshire staff who require such access to carry out their roles. Information provided on the application form will not be used for any other purpose, nor shared with third parties.

    By submitting your details, you consent to the University of Hertfordshire holding the information provided for at least thirty (30) days in order to process your payment. Please be assured that we will treat your information with the utmost care in accordance with relevant data protection legislation and the University of Hertfordshire's policy on data protection, which is available to view on our website.

    Once your payment is processed your application form will be removed from our system permanently. All application forms (including unsuccessful applications) will be deleted after all applications have been processed and payments made as set out above.
