Application requirements

The Chartered Educational Assessor is the benchmark of assessment excellence awarded under the CIEA Royal Charter and as part of the application process, we ask delegates to submit some information that will begin to inform us of their eligibility to embark on the Chartered Educational Assessor training course.

Registration eligibility for the Chartered Educational Assessor Programme

Previous knowledge and experience are not required to enrol on the Certificate in Educational Assessment course. However, for the Diploma and Chartered courses, holding a lead role in assessment is beneficial, for example being responsible for assessment in your workplace, head of a team of examiners for an awarding body or responsible for assessment in a faculty, department or school. We also accept applications from those aspiring to hold such a position.

Application requirements

  • a brief description of your current employment situation, to include role and responsibilities.
  • a reflection, no longer than 500 words, detailing your experience which you believe would make you eligible to become a Chartered Educational Assessor. Please use the CIEA framework to support your reflection.

Please submit your documents to administratorciea@herts.ac.uk. Once we have received your documents and have approved them, you will then be invited to enrol on the course.
