Information for schools and colleges

Together with the University's Education Liaison Team, the School of Creative Arts aims to provide advice, support and encouragement to prospective University of Hertfordshire students, and increase student numbers in higher education from under-represented groups. From art exhibitions to film screening, taster days, open days, short courses and more, we open our doors to schools and colleges as often as we can to give students a valuable chance to see the University first hand, experience real lectures and activities, interact with existing students and meet the staff who could be teaching them further down the line. Here are just a few of the activities we provide to build our valued relationships with schools and colleges:

Talks at your school or college

These talks can be about specific subjects or the School of Creative Arts in general, and can include advice on areas such as preparing for an interview or creating a portfolio for a Creative Arts subject at university. We can also collaborate with our wider Education Liaison Team to combine this with advice on topics such as applying for student finance, personal statements, university life and more.

Subject talks

If your students are particularly interested in one subject, or have a focus on subjects within a particular area (e.g. Design – whether that’s Graphic Design, Product Design or Contemporary Design Crafts), we are happy to coordinate a visit from one of our lecturers to your establishment to deliver a talk or other activity.

Events on campus

Visit our campus and see what life here is really like. Outside of our whole University open days, we run taster days and other events throughout the year which we welcome prospective students to come along to. We also run a wide selection of short courses for children and teenagers over the summer holidays.

We regularly update our social media channels with news around upcoming Open Days and Evenings, so make sure you connect with us for the latest updates! We’re on Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo and Instagram.
