Paying tribute to Gboyega Odubanjo

Following his family’s statement on Friday 1 September, we would like to pay tribute to Gboyega Odubanjo, a gifted poet and shining light in the University of Hertfordshire academic community and beyond.

As well as studying for his PhD in Creative Writing, Gboyega’s work as a visiting lecturer at Herts made him a very popular and hugely talented member of our University community. Our thoughts are with Gboyega’s family, friends and colleagues at this time.

We are a close community, and we know many of our staff and students will be deeply affected by this news. Any students or staff who need support at this time are encouraged to access our wellbeing services – including our Chaplaincy and 24/7 telephone helpline – whether they are currently on campus or away from the University.
