When you study at the University of Hertfordshire you can take part in the award-winning Active Students programme. The scheme is totally free and offers 75 hours of activity across both campuses every week!
Active Students is a great way to meet new people, create friendships that will last a lifetime and make the most of your experience whilst studying at the University of Hertfordshire.

Active Students is open to everyone - all abilities welcome just come along and give it a go.

About Active Students
Sport doesn't have to be competitive, Active Students is all about having fun, getting active, making new friends and taking a break from studying!
What is not to love about Active Students? It's social, free, fun and we even reward you for attending with free t-shirts and hoodies!
Over the last year, 4,000 students have taken part in Active Students (55% were male and 45% were female).
In addition to our free programme we also run Active Student Xtra program which allows you to learn new sports or skills like snowboarding or climbing at a very student friendly cost!
Remember to look us up when you start your University life and look out for some of our Freshers Week events such as a free UV Sports Party!
Guardian University Award
The University of Hertfordshire's Active Students team are the proud winners of a prestigious 2015 Guardian University Award.
The Guardian University Awards showcase best practice, achievement and innovation across a range of categories. The awards recognise the value of specific projects and reward institutions that have delivered projects which exceed the expectations of their students and staff.
The Student Experience category is awarded to an innovative project or initiative that has positively enhanced the student experience - in their academic lives or personal wellbeing.
Active Students is a programme which aims to contribute to the improved physical and mental health of students through increasing participation in sport. It has been praised for providing opportunities for all students to take part in informal sport or physical activity.
