Stevenage

Just a short drive up the A1(M) or via a direct train link, the town of Stevenage is home to extensive shopping and leisure facilities.

Things to do

Getting to Stevenage is so easy from Hatfield. I love all the green spaces and then having drinks with friends at Cinnabar. No evening is complete without the best Thai restaurant ever - Sala Thong!

While in Stevenage, there are plenty of activities that you can do, whatever your budget. The leisure park is home to a Cineworld multiplex with IMAX and 4DX screens, Mr Mulligan's Mini Golf, Air Space Trampoline Park, Hollywood Bowl as well many popular chain restaurants. Many of these attractions offer discounts if you show a valid student ID.

Fairlands Valley Park, 120 acres of parkland within the heart of the town, makes a great free destination on a summer day. Featuring over 20 acres of open water across four linked lakes, the park is also home to woodland, grasslands, a sailing centre and a café.

If you're looking for some nice food and drinks in the evening, then the Old Town High Street in Stevenage offers a wide selection of independent restaurants spanning many cuisines as well as a series of traditional pubs and bars that are open until late in the evening.

Getting further afield

Stevenage is served by a major railway interchange which is situated right next to the leisure park.

The station is served by Thameslink and LNER services on a frequent and fast rail link to London King's Cross in central London. In addition to the London-bound trains, they also run to major destinations such as Edinburgh, Cambridge, Brighton and Leeds. Often if you're going north from Hatfield, then you'll be likely to change at Stevenage before proceeding to your onward destination.
