Senior technical officer volunteering with the NHS

Alex Kingstrom, a senior technical officer in the School of Engineering and Computer Science, has been volunteering and sharing his expertise at the Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge. Alex, who has been trained in chemical warfare decontamination whilst he served in the United States Air Force, has been asked to lead a programme at the hospital that effectively decontaminates personal protective equipment (PPE) for reuse. He is also creating an efficient process for charging specialist ‘tornado’ protective hoods.
