Music from Stage and Screen (as part of the Sonic Herts Festival)

This May, we are thrilled to team up with the University’s Sonic Herts Festival and celebrate music from the stage and screen.

  • Elmer Bernstein – The Great Escape (Main Theme and highlights)
  • Various composers – James Bond Suite
  • John Williams – Harry Potter Suite
  • John Williams – Riding the Hippogriff (Harry Potter)
  • John Williams – Adventures on Earth (E.T.)
  • Michael Giacchino – Star Trek into Darkness
  • Hans Zimmer – Themes from Gladiator
  • John Willliams – Jurassic Park
  • Klaus Badelt – Pirates of the Caribbean
  • John Williams – Star Wars Suite

Our May concert coincides with the Sonic Herts Festival – the University's annual music festival – and this year, the Orchestra is excited to perform music from the giants of the big screen!

The concert opens with the 60-year-old classic score from Elmer Bernstein for The Great Escape followed by the quintessential suite of tunes from the James Bond films. Moving to the current golden era of film, the orchestra visits scores from the contemporary giants John Williams and Hans Zimmer, both of whom are still writing music for films.

Join us to enjoy these fantastic film favourites in one of our most popular concerts of the season!

The Sonic Herts Festival is the annual music festival celebrating the talent of the University’s students and staff. Run by the School of Creative Arts, the festival offers an exhilarating mix of performances ranging from classical to experimental and from acoustic to electronic.

For events taking place at the Weston Auditorium, Bar Ambition is the place to go for food and drink. We strongly advise pre-ordering any refreshments to avoid a delay in the interval. Click here to find out more.
