Start off the morning festivities with wonderful music from members of our resident de Havilland Philharmonic Orchestra. Grab some coffee, relax and listen as the String Quartet plays.

Formed in 1969, and celebrating their 55th Anniversary, the University’s resident orchestra, de Havilland Philharmonic, brings together over 80 classical musicians, and delivers several concerts per year – performing some of the best-loved classical masterpieces.

UH Arts + Culture are proud to host the orchestra on behalf of the University. For the Festival of Ideas, the de Havilland Philharmonic Orchestra is represented by its String Quartet which offers an informal introduction to the orchestra and the world of classical music. Music starts at 10:15 and continues until 11:15.

UH Arts + Culture are thrilled to be part of the University's first ever live Festival of Ideas – an exciting showcase of innovation that’s sure to inspire you. Taking place on our College Lane Campus in Hatfield on Friday 17 and Saturday 18 May 2024, the Festival is FREE and open to everyone.
