As our Digital Artist-in-Residence over the summer, Maria has been visiting the fascinating Pinetum at the Bayfordbury Campus. This is a campus with an observatory and 40 hectares of many different natural habitats.
Maria’s aim was to use digital art to explore her physical link to nature, she explains:
"I will explore our connection with Earth and nature through spending time in the space and documenting my experience."
The artist has been capturing the flora, fauna and landscape with photography, audio recordings and video. Using moving image, digital collage, pattern and sound – the artist aims to bring these different elements together as an immersive audio-visual experience.
