Event management and tourism
Event management is a fascinating career that can see you working on inspiring projects all over the world. It offers a balance of theoretical and practical learning that explores the latest trends and practices in the events management, tourism and hospitality business.
You’ll develop key event management and business skills on a course which received a satisfaction score of 85% overall in the National Students Survey 2019. Throughout your studies, you’ll benefit from teaching which is in line with current industry standards and knowledge due to the University’s membership to the Association for Event Management Education (AEME).
The course will enable you to get valuable hands-on experience working on live projects within the event industry (dependent on the COVID-19 pandemic and government guidelines). This hands-on experience, running and planning live and/or virtual events with external and internal clients, will ensure you graduate with the skills you need for success upon graduation.
Tourism is a career that can take you anywhere. Throughout your studies, you’ll develop key tourism management and business skills on a course which received a satisfaction score of 87% overall in the National Students Survey 2019.
The course is recognised by the Tourism Management Institute (TMI) and the University is partner of the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) ensuring you are prepared for the industry upon graduation. Our courses explore the latest trends and practices within the industry, examining the impact tourism has on destinations, as well as the sector’s sustainability, cultural influences and community engagement.
The course focuses on enabling you to gain and work on real world application of your learning through case studies and opportunities (dependent on the COVID-19 pandemic and government guidelines). The course also gives you the opportunity to do a work placement in small or large corporations, developing key employability skills, both domestically and internationally. You’ll also have the life-changing opportunity to study abroad as part of your studies.
In the global business world of today, we believe it is becoming increasingly important to study a second language. Speaking a second language, as well as having a business qualification, will give you a competitive edge when job hunting. At Hertfordshire Business School, we offer a choice of five languages and most of our courses offer the possibility to study one.
