Foundation and extended degrees
The Hertfordshire Higher Education Consortium is a partnership between the University of Hertfordshire and four colleges: Hertford Regional, North Hertfordshire, Oaklands and West Herts. Together, with excellent support and facilities, we can help you get into higher education and achieve your goals through our foundation and extended degree courses.
A foundation degree is a two-year course which gives you a stand-alone qualification with the opportunity to progress on to either the second or final year of a BA/BSc at the University of Hertfordshire, depending on your results.
If you don’t quite have the right qualifications for your chosen undergraduate course, an extended degree may help you get there. You will gain the necessary subject knowledge to bring you up to the required standard to progress on to the first year of a degree at the University.
Each college offers excellent teaching and great resources and you’ll benefit from links with businesses that will really boost your employability. If you’ve got your sights set on learning, don’t let anything stand in your way. Read about our courses and talk to our consortium colleges about taking the first step.
Get to know your subject
Depending on your chosen subject, we have a range of online resources available including subject presentations, videos, taster lectures student experience videos, workbook activities and quizzes, all to help you to find out about more about your course.
