Get to know your subject

The Accounting group takes pride in its established reputation with professional accounting bodies for excellence in teaching and the quality of graduates it produces. Accounting is home to a diverse group of academics whose teaching and research interests cover key areas of accounting and finance such as auditing, corporate governance, financial reporting, taxation and management accounting.

Our Finance degrees provide our graduates with key subject and employability skills along with an appreciation of the increasingly international character of financial markets, banking and institutions. Studying one of the School's Finance degrees allows you to develop the skills and knowledge required to work within the finance industry. The University's unique collaboration between the University of Hertfordshire and the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) allows our students to benefit from industry knowledge during their studies.

Exemptions from Professional Qualifications

Our Accounting degrees have been awarded the maximum number of exemptions by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). These programmes also attract up to 9 exemptions from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) along with exemptions from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) and CPA Australia.

Exemptions are subject to change at any point and therefore, it is advised you speak to the subject group lead for up to date exemptions for each programme. Although the group endeavours to retain all exemptions, professional bodies can remove them at any time, without notice.

This talk is focused on the undergraduate Accounting and Finance programme.

Where you'll study

Accounting and Finance is taught on the de Havilland Campus at the University. de Havilland is home to four academic schools of study: Business, Law, Education and Humanities. Here you’ll also find our extensive Sports Village and our main performing arts venue; the Weston Auditorium.

In 2020, we opened our newest facility on the de Havilland Campus, the £12 million Enterprise Hub. This new building includes space for socialising, teaching and an Incubation Centre for supporting small businesses in their growth stage.

Here's a look around our amazing facilities where we teach Accounting and Finance at Herts.
