Travel and facilities on campus

Is parking available on campus?
Residential parking on College Lane campus is available but is extremely limited. Find out if you are eligible and apply for a parking permit.
Please note, there is no residential parking at our de Havilland campus.
Commuting students and visitors can either use the Park and Ride or park on campus. The Park and Ride (AL10 8HS) is available for all students, staff and visitors to use. The car park is free, and there is a shuttle bus that will take you to campus for £1.
Alternatively, you can park on campus for £2 a day or for free for two hours.
Which buses come to campus?
Uno, the University’s bus company runs throughout Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and London. Find out more about the bus routes and how to buy a ticket.
Can I sign up to a doctor on campus?
There is a Medical Centre on College Lane campus that is solely for students and staff. Whether you need to see a GP or nurse for regular prescriptions or treatment, want to chat with a health professional about an issue, get your vaccinations or require contraception and sexual health services, our medical centre staff are here to help. You can register there as soon as you know the address of your accommodation in Hatfield. Please note that if you require urgent and/or emergency care then you will need to ring 999.
Is the shop well stocked?
We have a number of shops on campus and these are well stocked to provide you with all the essentials you need. Find out more about the shops on campus and opening times.
Who will help me find my way around?
Download our Herts Mobile app to direct you around campus using wayfinding. It is helpful to always know where you are and for directing you to your teaching rooms. You can also check out our virtual tour before coming to campus to become familiar with buildings, cafes, and shops.
There’ll also be friendly helpers around to guide you, and you can ask any member of staff too!
Where can I buy food on campus?
There are a range of restaurants and cafes on campus. Check out the opening times for de Havilland campus. You can also check out the opening times for College Lane campus.
You can only pay by card or UPAY (an app you can download) in facilities on campus.
When are the libraries/Learning Resources Centres (LRCs) open?
The LRCs are open 24/7 for Herts students and staff. The LRCs are big libraries that are home to loads of books, journals, articles and other resources. The LRCs also have PCs, printers and scanners, and laptops that you can use.
