Research in Humanities

The Department of Humanities has a distinct, thriving research culture which is recognised nationally and internationally for its research excellence.

We support our staff and students as they carry out exciting research in a whole range of subject areas, enriching our courses, seminar programmes and conferences with new knowledge and thinking.

Our research has had an impact across a wide variety of projects, including Hertfordshire history, London crime and poverty 1700-1900, Renaissance and Victorian literature, historical linguistics, and diagnosis of the problems of personal identity.
