Film

From European cinema to Hollywood noir, our modules in film will take you on a journey through diverse genres, contexts, cultures and film making techniques. You’ll delve into the golden age of cinema, discover what drives the industry today and learn how to make your own original short films.

You can study Film as part of a combined undergraduate degree or as part of the BA (Hons) Mass Communications.

With the University of Hertfordshire’s innovative online distance learning programme, you can continue your learning at your own pace with the MA Global Film and Television. The course provides the opportunity to develop an understanding of film analysis beyond Hollywood, and to engage in close readings of films and television programmes from around the world.

My studies helped me to develop the writing and research skills needed for my professional work in the industry. The writing and video editing experience I was able to gain from my time volunteering for societies at the University was also essential in helping me to have the skills that are valuable within my role.

The practical aspects of the course, such as filming and group work, allowed me to work with different people and make new friends. The facilities are amazing.
