What will I study?
Starting with an introduction to film studies, we begin by acknowledging the impact of tastes, concerns, fears and interests in relation to the history of film.
You'll explore the historic, artistic, institutional and commercial sensibilities behind filmmaking, which may include a study of European cinema, propaganda and film stars.
The course aims to equip you with the terminology you need to engage in a scholarly analysis of the subject.
It will also give you the opportunity to join class debates, learning how to create and defend a reasoned critical analysis as well as test the solidity of your own ideas.
In later modules, you will have the opportunity to develop your own cinematic creativity.
With the University of Hertfordshire’s innovative online distance learning programme, you can study for a MA Global Film and Television at your own pace, without ever having to set foot on campus. The course will provide the opportunity to develop an understanding of film analysis beyond Hollywood, and to engage in close readings of films and television programmes from around the world.
