At the School of Humanities we have a distinct, thriving research culture.
We support our staff and students as they carry out exciting research in a whole range of subject areas, enriching our courses, seminar programmes and conferences with new knowledge and thinking.
We're pleased to say that we're recognised both nationally and internationally for our research excellence, with particular strengths in English Language and Communication, English Literature, History and Philosophy.
Our research activities extend across a wide variety of projects, including Hertfordshire history, London crime and poverty 1700-1900, Renaissance and Victorian literature, historical linguistics, and diagnosis of the problems of personal identity.
