Extended degrees

If you don’t quite have the right qualifications (e.g. A Levels, BTEC Diplomas or equivalent) or your grades aren't as good as you expected for your desired undergraduate programme, an Extended Degree may help you get there.

Our Consortium colleges currently offer one-year extended degrees in Science, Engineering and Law. You’ll gain an excellent foundation in your chosen subject area studying modules relevant to your planned degree and gaining skills such as:

  • communications.
  • IT.
  • literacy.
  • numeracy.

Once you have completed your Extended Degree, you’ll have the opportunity to progress on to a range of undergraduate programmes at the University subject to meeting the required tariff and any additional entry requirements. You can study a variety of Honours degrees as well as subjects within the Joint Honours programme (where you can choose more than one subject). Subjects you can progress on to include:

  • aerospace and automotive engineering.
  • biochemistry.
  • biomedical science.
  • environmental management.
  • geography.
  • health professions and subjects allied to health.
  • law.
  • mathematics.
  • molecular biology.
  • optometry.
  • pharmacy.
  • physics and astrophysics.
  • sport science.
