Once you have set-up your University account you will be able to access job and placement vacancies, book events and appointments and view resources on CareerHub.
Experience Hub is the one-stop-shop for experiences that will boost your skills and maybe your bank balance! Find part-time job opportunities as well as placements, volunteering and any other work available within UH.
You might also want to read more about the iShadow scheme specifically aimed at first years.
Keep an eye out for our Part-Time Jobs Fair taking place on Thursday 18 October as well as part-time job workshops and webinars - all bookable through CareerHub.
Part-time employment can also help you prepare for a career post-graduation. For example, working with customers can help develop your communication skills and balancing part-time work whilst studying requires excellent time management. Some part-time jobs may even be career related, for example, IT roles.
Employers have different agendas when it comes to recruitment and you can use this to your advantage. Substantial numbers of employers now also have work experience places for first year undergraduates – a quarter of organisations offer paid internships and over a third of employers run introductory courses, open days and other taster experiences for first year students.
Some employers look for early talent spotting opportunities and offer insight days (which are very competitive and highly prized mini-internships) to first years as a way to do this. An average of 45% of 2015 interns went on to secure graduate jobs in the same company this year.
