Your first days

Your first days and weeks at university will be full of fun and excitement. As well as getting to grips with your new course and for some of you, moving away from home for the first time, we hope you will take advantage of everything on offer and really enjoy your introduction to university life.

Getting started

In all the excitement it’s easy to forget some of the important stuff. To give you a head start we’ve put together some checklists to make sure you’ve got everything covered, or take a look at the videos below to see what you can expect when you get here for the first time.

Freshers is the University and Students’ Union’s way of saying “Hey, welcome to your new home and our family”. It’s a great way to get to know your fellow students and many lifelong friendships will be formed. Whatever your interests, you’ll find events to suit you. Check out the SU website for more details of what events are planned and how to buy a Fresher’s wristband (for all events) or individual tickets.

If you are joining us from overseas we run an orientation programme to help you get used to your new home. Take a look at our arriving in the UK page to find out more.
