Foundation and extended degrees

Our foundation and extended degrees offer an alternative entry-route with lower entry requirements into higher education than traditional undergraduate programmes.

You'll benefit from a different approach to learning which focuses on individual support, work-based learning and applying your skills to real-life situations.

Foundation degrees

A foundation degree is a two-year course which gives you a stand-alone qualification. After this you can progress on to the second or final year of a BA/BSc at Herts.

Hertfordshire Higher Education Consortium

Our foundation and extended degrees are run in partnership with four colleges: Hertford Regional, North Hertfordshire, Oaklands and West Herts. Each college offers excellent teaching and resources. You’ll also benefit from links with businesses that will really boost your employability upon completion of your course.

By studying at a college, you'll benefit from the support of smaller classes and teaching aligned to your individual needs. You'll still be able to make the most of student life with access to the University's facilities and the vibrant student community.
