School of Life and Medical Sciences

The School of Life and Medical Sciences is home to a  diverse range of applied science disciplines. Our courses span biosciences, dietetics and nutrition, geography, environment and planning, optometry, pharmacy, pharmacology and pharmaceutical sciences, postgraduate medicine, psychology, and sport. The School also has a thriving research culture across its many disciplines.

Our state-of-the-art facilities include the purpose-built and cutting-edge Science Building, which is home to spacious new laboratories and learning spaces, and offers research technologies including pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment, cell culture facilities and aseptic suites for our students and the wider community. The new Hertfordshire Institute of Sport also offers top-tier facilities for Sports Science teaching and research including our sports injuries clinic.

From our medical simulation suites and optometry specialist clinics to our field station used for regular field work by our geography and environmental sciences students, our facilities both enrich the curriculum and provide dynamic and stimulating working environments for our staff.
