Finance and Procurement

Welcome to a department forged on trust and accountability committed to ensuring the solvency and stability of the University, its operations and community.

Finance and Procurement are responsible for all aspects of financial management within the University Group, including financial control, statutory reporting, external audit, treasury, tax, insurance, payroll, pensions, procurement, accounts payable and receivable, capital investment and commercial financial support for the subsidiary companies. Without financial sustainability and compliance, the University Group wouldn’t be able to manage its community, invest in new developments or thrive as a globally recognised organisation.

Our department is truly diverse with about 70 talented professional members of staff with varied roles and responsibilities. Finance can provide fantastic opportunities for you to enrich your abilities and advance your career. We have both full time and part-time roles within the department, we nurture progression and support professional development as required by the University. We currently have staff studying both AAT and CIPS qualifications, as well as employing around 15 fully qualified accountants, and CIPS and treasury professionals.

At senior level, members sit on boards and committees and so are truly part of the strategic management and decision-making of the University Group.

Most of the team are based in the Maclaurin building although finance and procurement staff who serve schools directly are located on College Lane and DeHavilland campuses.

The main system used is Technology One, a modern application which is continually upgraded and developed to deliver optimal results. The Payroll team used CoreHR, also used within Human Resources.

The department has been recognised with awards made internally and externally, including the Times Higher Outstanding Finance Department in 2013, as well as multiple nominations for Procurement separately.
