The Centre for Agriculture, Food and Environmental Management (CAFEM) is a partnership established in 2015 between the University of Hertfordshire, Royal Veterinary College, Rothamsted Research and Oaklands College.

It is a virtual centre with a focus on collaborative research between the partners and delivery of undergraduate and post graduate education. Programmes of study will be validated by the University of Hertfordshire.

Professor David Barling is the Director of CAFEM. He is supported by a Steering Committee composed of representatives from the partner institutions as well as external appointments from the farming and food industries.

Our research

Within the University of Hertfordshire, research in CAFEM is coordinated through the unit for Agriculture, Veterinary and Food Sciences (AVFS), in the areas of Geography, Environment and Agriculture, Nutrition and Dietetics and Biosciences.

Our teaching

Within the University of Hertfordshire, teaching in CAFEM is lead by Geography, Environment and Agriculture subject group, with support of Biosciences and Nutrition & Dietetics.  A new Applied Plant & Animal Biology degree has been set up recently.
