Electric car club
The University of Hertfordshire is the first UK Higher Education Institute with an electric car club.
How does it work?
E-Car Club have a fleet of brand new electric vehicles dotted around campus at the University of Hertfordshire, which can be hired by the hour.
The vehicles are specially adapted to include a Radio-frequency identification (RFID) card access system, meaning the cars can be booked online, or via the E-Car Mobile app, 24/7, 365 days a year. They can also be used by several different people throughout the day at a cost of just £5.50 per hour, or £45 for 24 hours.
The cars can be booked for any length of time (minimum of one hour), and as they’re completely electric, there are no additional fuel costs to worry about. Insurance is even included in this price, and both Young Drivers (19+) and International Driving Licences are welcome.
E-Car Club’s award-winning Renault ZOE hatchbacks have an average range of 70-90 miles per charge. Which covers the vast majority of day to day journeys. However, should E-Car Club members wish to travel further afield, all our vehicles come with a charge card which grants access to a selection of charge points across the UK.
Where are the cars located?
The cars are located in electric car bays in both the de Havilland Campus & Forum car parks, these spaces were provided by University of Hertfordshire as part of their work to support green travel around the University.
