Wellcome Connecting Science
Wellcome Connecting Science’s mission is to enable everyone to explore genomic science and its impact on research, health and society.
Our work across Engagement and Society uses research and engagement methods to investigate the impact of genomics on people and communities. We listen, gather and share insights on public attitudes and experiences. And we use this understanding to create new and innovative ways to support a diverse range of communities, learners, educators, and researchers, discover how genomic science is relevant to our lives.
Through our Education and Learning programme we support primary school teachers and students to explore DNA, Genes and genomes by offering a range of experiences and resources. These include:
- Visits to the Wellcome Genome Campus
- Online talks with scientists via Zoom
- Free teaching resources on www.yourgenome.org
Science for everyone
Science for Everyone is a new initiative developed by Wellcome Connecting Science targeted at primary school teachers to raise awareness of Unconscious Bias and its potential to influence students’ science capital and attitudes towards science.
We offer free online training workshops for primary schools to help reflect on current practices and how to mitigate bias in schools.
Free training resources and classroom activities can be found here: www.Science4everyone.org
