CLEAPSS Primary Resources
CLEAPSS Primary is dedicated to supporting classroom teachers and teaching assistants, science leaders and leadership teams in primary schools.
Our resources give teachers ideas for exciting and engaging practical activities that fire pupils' imaginations. Most importantly our resources describe, in detail, how to translate the ideas into safe and exciting practical experiences that work and are easy to implement.
Our resources are available on our CLEAPSS Primary website where you will find:
- practical teaching ideas
- how to do things safely including comprehensive and definitive safety and risk assessment advice
- information about our latest competition
- guidance and support with equipment
- Leadership H&S resources including training materials, model documents and how to use practical work to best support learning
We also provide a helpline, so if you need advice on almost anything to do with science, art or DT you can contact us directly.

CLEAPSS working with PSQM
CLEAPSS has supported PSQM with writing their H&S standard’s criteria and by providing a supporting INSET pack - Making Practicals Work for You.
Written specifically for a primary audience and designed to be delivered in school by science leaders, the materials help primary staff to understand what H&S in the classroom means and supports them to carry out effective and useful risk assessments.
CLEAPSS are proud to support PSQM, both organisations have a shared vision to promote high quality practical enquiry which develops children’s scientific understanding.
