Needs assessment service

Get assessed on campus

The University of Hertfordshire work in conjunction with Anglia Assessment Centre to provide DSA Needs Assessments on our College Lane campus.

To book an appointment please visit the Anglia Assessment Centre.

This service is available to everyone who is eligible to undergo a Study Needs Assessment.

You will need to provide evidence of your Disabled Students Allowance eligibility, which is a letter which you will receive after you have applied and they have agreed to your funding.

The needs assessment will identify any support which you would benefit from during your studies. You should also discuss your needs with Student Wellbeing.

Your needs assessor will write a needs assessment report which will list and justify any recommended assistive technology and specialist support you will need as well as:

  • how much it will cost
  • where to get it from
  • any specialist training you may need to make best use of the assistive technology

At the assessment

As soon as you receive your letter from your funding body you can book the assessment.

You should allow 2 hours for the assessment so the needs assessor can discuss your disability or difficulty and how it affects the way you learn.

You will be able to see specialist equipment, and try it in some cases. The needs assessor will discuss your needs and together, you'll decide what is likely to work for you on your course and a report will be written with those recommendations.

Assessment report

It is your report so it is up to you to decide who sees that information.
