Student Ambassador Programme

What is a student ambassador?

A student ambassador takes part in a range of activities to help promote the University of Hertfordshire and support prospective students. You’ll be studying either an undergraduate or postgraduate course at Herts and be keen to share your experience and offer advice. The role is varied and can involve helping at the following types of events:

  • campus tours
  • clearing
  • external visits to schools and colleges
  • higher education fairs
  • interview days (school)
  • schools visits to campus
  • student experience talks
  • taster days
  • UCAS fairs
  • undergraduate open days (compulsory)
  • Unibuddy (this may involve supporting prospective students through online chat, writing blog articles about your University experience).

Why should I get involved?

There are many great benefits to being a part of the ambassador programme.

Develop your skills

The activities of a student ambassador can be varied. One day you could be delivering a talk on student life at a local school, and the next running a campus tour at an open day. You'll be involved with a range of activities which will help increase your confidence, skills and experience. You'll have the chance to develop public speaking, organisation, problem solving, team work and communication skills, to name a few!

Make your CV stand out

Employers love to see fun, extracurricular activities when you apply for jobs. Your experience as a student ambassador can help you show key skills, like time management, presentation, customer service and networking skills. Plus it shows you participated in university life outside of your studies.

Make new friends

Becoming a student ambassador is a fantastic way to make new friends and meet people outside of your course.

Make the most of your university experience and become a student ambassador. You'll benefit from a fantastic hourly wage and flexible hours which fit around your studies. During term time, you'll work no more than 15 hours per week. The ambassador programme is also a great way to make new friends and develop your skills.

Applications to become an Ambassador are currently closed. Keep an eye out for more information when we reopen applications.

I joined the Ambassador programme because I wanted to help others make their uni decision easier. I love talking to others about the uni at open days.
