What is a student ambassador?
A student ambassador is a current university student employed by the University, who part takes in a range of responsibilities that aim to promote the University student experience and the courses we offer to prospective students and their families.
What does an ambassador do?
The program recruits undergraduate and postgraduate students to represent the University at internal and external events. These include:
- undergraduate open days (compulsory)
- postgraduate open evenings
- higher education fairs
- UCAS fairs
- campus tours
- schools visits to campus
- interview days (school)
- student experience talks
- taster days
- external visits to schools and colleges.
Why should you get involved?
There are many great benefits to being a part of the programme.
Develop your skills
The activities of a student ambassador can be varied. One day you could be delivering a talk on student life at a local school, and the next you might be doing a campus or accommodation tour at our open and applicant days. You will get involved with a range of activities which will help you develop your confidence and public speaking skills to a range of audiences.
Make your CV stand out
The student ambassador programme makes your CV stand out. Employers love to see fun, extracurricular activities when you apply for jobs as it demonstrates key workplace skills, like time management, and shows that you participated in university life outside of your studies.
Make new friends
The programme is a fantastic way to make new friends and meet new people outside of your course.
