Enterprise Support at Herts

Being an entrepreneur requires dedication, passion, and commitment. You must be incredibly self-motivated to start a business and expect knock backs. With genuine passion, hard work, a great idea, and a knack for learning, anyone can build a start-up and become a success. The Enterprise team within the Careers and Employment Service are here to support University of Hertfordshire students and graduates with their entrepreneurial journey.

Develop your skills

Enterprise skills are useful if you aspire to run your own business, but they're also becoming more and more in demand in the workplace.

Start by knowing yourself - Running a business or project can be challenging and knowing your own motivations; what you want to do and why you want to do it is an incredibly important starting point. Knowing your motivations is important both in terms of deciding whether self-employment is right for you, but also for when you are communicating your idea, or personal brand to any potential stakeholders.

Support for your business start-up

There's wide range of support is available depending on your enterprise query.

The enterprise team has been pivotal in my success as a business owner. Thanks to the grant awarded to me by the enterprise team and Santander bank, I was able to buy the needed equipment to start the business.

The Enterprise Team at Hertfordshire has fast-forwarded my entrepreneurial journey by giving valuable advice and keeping a regular check on me which I definitely needed in my first few months. I've come really far in my career and I'm really thankful to the Enterprise Team for making me an almost independent Entrepreneur.

Being exposed to other entrepreneurs, direct support from the Enterprise Team and having the deadlines/requirements (i.e. business plan) of the FLARE competition helped me thoroughly plan and structure my ideas and set up the business.
