Accommodation assistance offer terms and conditions
The University of Hertfordshire recognises that international and EU Students are facing unprecedented challenges and additional costs in relocating to study and live in England. To help these students the University of Hertfordshire is offering assistance of a value of up to £1,000 to all new international and EU students towards their accommodation costs for September 2021. As funds are limited, this is a time limited offer applicable to all new international and EU students (on both Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes).
By ‘new’ we mean international or EU Students (‘Applicants’) who currently hold an offer to study on their first course at the University of Hertfordshire and those who have not yet accepted an offer of accommodation with the University of Hertfordshire for the academic year 2021/22.
To qualify for this offer, applicants must:
- Be a new international or EU student; and
- Already have accepted their place to study at the University of Hertfordshire; and
- Accept an offer of accommodation from the University of Hertfordshire via the accommodation portal between 1 September 2021 and 17 September 2021,
- Not be in arrears on their accommodation account at the time of the final term’s invoice; and
- Remain eligible for University of Hertfordshire accommodation for the full term of the accommodation licence.
This offer will be applied in the final academic term, before 22 April 2022, when up to £1,000 will be credited to the applicant’s accommodation account. If the accommodation licence is terminated prior to the beginning of the final academic term, this offer will not apply (and will not be applied pro-rata to any earlier period that the accommodation was occupied).
Should the University apply its COVID-19 Commitment, in the light of changes in Government or public health guidance, then the maximum amount that an applicant may receive by way of discount or refund will be £1,000. In other words, an applicant is not entitled to receive more than £1,000, in an academic year, as a result of both this offer and the COVID-19 Commitment applying to their accommodation.
An applicant may not have two accommodation applications at the same time. If an applicant chooses to cancel an existing application or declines an accepted accommodation offer, the University of Hertfordshire cannot guarantee that the applicant will receive a new offer for the same or a similar accommodation type as provided in the pre-existing booking.

Frequently asked questions
I have not yet applied for on-campus accommodation. Can I apply now and be eligible?
Yes. Please complete an accommodation booking. You will need to accept your room offer between 1 September 2021 and 17 September 2021.
I have already submitted an on-campus accommodation application, but I have not received a room offer yet, will my application be eligible?
Yes. Your application will be eligible so long as you accept the room offer (which will be issued to you when your application becomes fully unconditional) between 1 September 2021 and 17 September 2021.
I have already received a room offer which I have accepted, am I eligible?
Any accepted accommodation offers will not be eligible. To become eligible for this assistance, you will need to email firstname.lastname@example.org and ask the team to cancel your current accommodation contract and re-allocate you a room. You will need to accept the new offer within the time period listed above. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that you would be offered the same room. You will need to set up a new payment plan for your new room when it has been allocated.
My course has an early start date and I have already accepted my accommodation offer. If I cancel my current room and re-book, will my new application be processed in time?
We will do our best to allocate early arrivals first, but you can email email@example.com to let us know and we will try and prioritise your application. Please use ‘Early arrival application’ as your email title so we can identify them. Please note we only have a certain number of rooms for early arrivals so if you cancel your current room and request another, there is a chance you may be allocated temporary accommodation for the first two weeks. This would be on campus, but you would then need to move into your permanent room at the end of the two weeks.
How do I book on campus accommodation?
View our on-campus accommodation and book your room online. Once you have applied the Accommodation Team will be in touch with a room offer and you will need to accept it within the dates outlined in the Terms and Conditions of the discount.
If you currently have a confirmed accommodation offer, this assistance will not apply to your current booking. If you would like to be eligible for this assistance, you will need to email firstname.lastname@example.org and ask the team to cancel your current accommodation contract and re-allocate you a room. You will need to accept the new offer within the time period listed above. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that you would be offered the same room.
