Royal Veterinary College - Research Highlights 2016
Following the success of the RVC Researcher Association’s first Research Highlights Day in 2015, we are delighted to invite you to RVC Research Highlights 2016!
RVC Research Highlights aims to bring together RVC staff, students, friends, families and the local community to share the most up-to-date findings of RVC research, and explore their wider impact on the world. RVC Researchers will present the results of their research from 2016 on interactive stands and give you the opportunity to find out what life as a research scientist at RVC is like. At the 2016 event, expect a wide variety of species and studies on show, including:
- Heart disease in cats: are cats like people?
- Insect aerodynamics: tunnels > lasers > robots!
- Immunity in action
- Stepping into science: Engagement through participation in research
All attendees are encouraged to visit the stands and vote for their favourite, with the Best Interactive Stand awarded at the end of the event. In addition to the interactive stands, we will be running our yearly photo competition at the event! RVC researchers will be showcase photographs that represent their research under the three categories: ‘Research in Action’, ‘People Behind the Research’ and ‘Nature's Artwork’. These photographs will be presented in a gallery in the conference centre, with attendees able to vote for their favourite in each category on the day.
As a pre-Christmas end-of-year wrap up, this is a relatively informal and relaxed event, held over the afternoon and early evening of 30th November in the conference suite at Hawkshead. The event will begin at 3.00pm and end at 7.00pm. Refreshments will be available in the canteen (below the conference centre) throughout the afternoon.
